People in Novgorod

Happy Fourth of July! Sasha brought me some daisies.
They look good in their Nazareth College hats.
I liked this statue. Behind us is the pedestrian bridge over the Volkhov River.
 Our classroom.
After Russian class (3 hours), we had a short lunch break every day, then we had painting class.
We were learning a particular folk style of painting.
First we made color wheels with guache.

Then we practiced on paper plates.

Here are some examples of the teacher's work.

Our final painting project was a wide frame around a mirror. Mine was about summertime by the river.

A Visit to the Folklore Center
We played games like Russians did in the olden days.

After the games, we had tea and blinis.

Liza loves to take pictures. (Haha.)

We visited Olga, a multimedia artist. Here she is with Shakespeare, a doll she created.

This furry fellow hangs around Ilina Ulitsa.

Valye is an artist, too. Here are some of his sketches.

This is Valye showing us how to put the duvet into the cover. His personal efficient method.

 I'm a good eater.
We went to a wooden architecture museum.
 Nick caught a toad.
 Jennifer had a bug bite.

We took a boat ride to Lake Ilmen.

Sasha, Lesya and I climbed 5 flights to the top of the Kremlin. Each level has a different display.

At the library.

 At Khoroshi Lyudi.

At Greensleeves Irish Pub. Sasha and Valye.
My classmates at Dostoyevskiy's house in Staraya Russa.
 At the Art Museum.
 A farewell lunch.

Our guides and managers. Thank you!
 Our teachers. Thank you!

The last night in Novgorod. We went to a restaurant.
